Pumpkins are like a piece of summer you can pick up and carry away in your arms. Does this one say Jack o' Lantern to you, or pie? Does it need to be something else, or is it pumpkin enough, sitting in the patch where it grew?
These are the kinds of questions I might ask myself, when beginning to play with the words for a new haiku.
